Programme Outcomes (PO)

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex Mechanical engineering problems.
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems in Mechanical Engineering reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes of Mechanical Engineering that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments in Mechanical Engineering, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities in Mechanical Engineering with an understanding of the limitations.

Programme Specific Objectives (PSO)

PSO1 Graduates of the program will achieve optimized design by utilizing their knowledge in thermal engineering, material science, manufacturing, fluid power and computer integrated manufacturing.
PSO2 Graduates will be able to analyze and interpret by using modern tools and provide solutions to real time mechanical engineering and related problems.
PSO3 Graduates will learn managerial skills to work effectively in a team and are aware of the impact of professional engineering solutions in human community, environmental context, ethics and be able to communicate effectively.

The Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the M.E. degree in Thermal Engineering of Rohini College of Engineering and Technology are as follows:

PEO1 1. To improve the foundation and the knowledge base of students in thermal science and to make them talented for analysing and solving the problems related to this field.
PEO2 2. To convey wide-ranging education in Thermal Engineering to confirm that the students have the core aptitude to be successful in the industry and motivate them to pursue research in related areas.
PEO3 3. To encourage the students to take up real time problems and to create innovative solutions for those problems through broad analysis.
PEO4 4. To inculcate a sense of ethics, professionalism and effective communication skills among the graduates for their successful careers.
PEO5 5. To provide an academic environment that gives adequate opportunity to the students to encourage lifelong skills needed for their successful professional career.

The Program Outcomes (POs) of the M.E. degree in Thermal Engineering are as follows:

PO1 Graduates will demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate and solve thermal engineering problems and will have the skill for doing research on a specific thermal related problem, starting from scratch, to research into literatures, methodologies, techniques, tools, and to conduct experiments and interpret technical data.
PO2 Graduates will demonstrate research skills to analyse complex thermal engineering problems for creating new ideas for the solutions.
PO3 Graduates will demonstrate the abilities to use modern engineering tools, software and equipment to analyse and solve complex engineering problems.
PO4 Graduates will demonstrate skills of presenting their findings effectively before the scientific community, and give and take command and ability to work with multidisciplinary tasks.
PO5 Graduate will demonstrate behaviours of a manager in handling engineering projects and related finance, and coordinate workforce towards achieving the organizational goals.
PO6 Graduates will exhibit the characters of good academician and engage in independent and reflective lifelong learning.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering from RCET train the research students to use and advance their engineering skills to contribute to applied industry-focused mechanical and manufacturing research projects. Areas of research includes material science, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, composites, heat transfer, Nanotechnology based research and solid mechanics and many more. We have six well experienced Anna University recognized supervisors and extensive and advanced research facilities to support your individual research projects.

  • Master’s Degree of the University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent there to in the fields of study notified from time to time by the University. Specific educational qualifications are given in Clause 2 (Ref. Anna University Regulation 2020).
  • A minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination. In case of SC/ST/ Differently–Abled candidates, 50% marks or CGPA of 5.0 on a 10 point scale
